Vintage Quicksilver Ride-Guide Mercruiser Steering Wheel and Cable assembly

  

Vintage Quicksilver ride guide boat steering wheel and cable period taken off an old Starcraft boat. There are some scratches on this and the scratches that are on the steering column just on the outside of the wood appeared to be scratches to me but because of the wood and not being able to look inside the steering column I cannot tell for certain if they are just scratches or if they are cracks. They appear to be scratches to me, but I cannot say for certain.

The steering wheel is approximately 16 in in diameter. The steering cable appears to be a little longer than 175 in, but I cannot say exactly how long because it's hard or I do not want to straighten the cable out completely because it seems that toward the end of it, primarily where the coding is missing and some Rust is forming it doesn't seem to want to flex as easily. I ran my hand along the length of the cable and the Damage I felt was toward the end of the cable.
