In the 1950's boats and yachts were adorned with hardware and lighting that were intended to enhance the boats allure and aesthetic appeal and reflect the owners artistic appreciation. His functional Navigation (BOW) Light adornment by Atwood is a magnificent artistic expression of flight and beauty in motion.
This one has been used but in remarkably good condition for the age. The base plate on the underside has a crack that has been repaired and reinforced with two screws.
The red and green lenses are present and are in good condition. The lights work and the wiring is in excellent condition.
The chrome is in nice condition overall but not perfect. The photo seems to enhance the flaws - the patina is less pronounced to my eyes. The small removable triangular insert on top covers an opening that I speculate may have been intended for a removable flag pole - that is not included. Another eBayer asked if I had a translucent lens for the front light - I do not and I can not see figure out how it was attached --- I would love to see a photo of the front lens.
This piece of functional art would make a beautiful addition to any marine memorabilia collection or classic yacht.
