Vintage Brass Pyrene Fire Extinguisher With Mounting Bracket 1931 1939

  

This is a vintage EMPTY brass fire extinguisher made by the Pyrene Mfg. Of Newark, New Jersey and it is the 1 qt model. It comes with it's original mounting bracket which has a new coat of black paint.

This has been polished and lacquered and as you can see in the pictures, it displays very well. It has NO dents and NO dings. There is some of the black paint missing from the label but most has remained. Not bad for something over 70 years old.

This is about 14" long and 3" in diameter. These Pyrene's were used on cars and trucks and wood boats such as Garwood and Chris-Craft. In the now former web site "vintagefe", it stated that from 1937 to 1960 General fire extinguishers were featured in Chris-Craft accessory cataloges. Prior to that Chris-Craft featured Pyrene's.

This particular paint scheme on the label was used by Pyrene from around 1931 to 1939. I will include a copy of a page from "vintagefe" where it states that this model was featured in accessory catalogs in 1936 and 1937. This is a very nice extinguisher that is hard to come by, especially in this condition. This would look great on a vintage wood boat, car, or truck.
