Vintage Antique 1941 1hp Sears Waterwitch Race Outboard Resto Mod &display stand

  

Here is a chance to get something really different for your outboard collection. This is a one of one. Sears Waterwitch 1.0 hp one cylinder air cooled outboard made by Kissel, complete with a matching custom hand made display stand.

This outboard was completely disassembled, stripped and self etched primed. At that point the powerhead was painted with a white spray epoxy ('head' area) and Cherry red alkyd enamel, including the flywheel. The tank was sprayed in the same Cherry red enamel as the the powerhead and then polished to a nice shine.

New vinyl decals were applied. The tank and fuel system were thoroughly cleaned. The coil is a known good replacement, points were cleaned and gapped and the condenser checks good with an analog ohm meter.

The lower unit was torn down, inspected and re packed with grease (Non drainable type that uses LP105 or similar grease). The lower unit was then stripped of paint, polished and the skeg was re shaped for more rake. The propeller was given the same treatment and the exhaust outlet was opened up and reshaped. The exhaust tube and carb (save for the primer cover which is a rough casting and can't be polished) and fuel line were also polished. The motor was then chopped 8" including the driveshaft, leaving it a total of 24" tall!

The shaft drop is now roughly 8. It will still run if gassed up.

With all the mods it MUST be pushing 1-1/4 HP!! A %25 percent increase in power! A neat looking display stand was then made for it using dimension lumber then sprayed in a manor to evoke aged aluminum with a touch of metal flake to bounce light. The middle portion, "drip" area is'aged' Pine. On the stand the motor is approximately 32 inches tall.

A truly unusual model/build combination for that "has everything" outboard collection. Cutdowns also go great along side toy outboard displays and are a natural re. Small enough to put on a large table! I own a large collection of classic and antique outboards, many are race models.
